This notice explains what is stored in your browser when you use AskMyWebsite AI. In short: we use no advertising or tracking cookies and no tracking identifiers. The few cookies we do set are strictly necessary — to remember a discount code, or to sign you in — and are listed below.
When you interact with the AskMyWebsite AI assistant on a customer's website, we set no cookies and use no tracking pixels or fingerprinting. Nothing is stored in your browser until you open the assistant — if you never open it, it writes nothing at all. Once you do, it keeps a small amount of data in your browser's sessionStorage, which your browser discards as soon as you close the tab:
| Item | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
aig_sid_… | A randomly generated identifier for this tab's conversation, created only when you open the assistant, so that the questions you ask during one visit reach the website's owner as a single thread instead of unrelated messages. It is sent to us with each question and stored alongside the conversation. | Until you close the tab |
aig_chat_… | The conversation itself — your questions and the assistant's answers, most recent 40 — so that refreshing the page or moving around the site does not lose the thread; the conversation shown here is not sent back to the AI model. The same key also holds a short trail of your most recent interactions on the site (up to 15 events: pages opened, and the visible labels of buttons, links or forms you used — never anything you type into a field), which is sent with each question so the assistant understands what you were doing before you asked. | Until you close the tab |
aig_widget_ui_… | Whether the assistant window is open, and its size and position if you moved it. | Until you close the tab |
None of these follow you to other websites, none are used for advertising or profiling, and none are shared with third parties. Storage of this kind is strictly necessary to provide the assistant you chose to use, so it does not require consent under the ePrivacy rules and the Spanish LSSI-CE.
Separately, while the owner of a website is setting up their assistant — never during an ordinary visit — the setup session keeps a token and its progress in that site's browser storage, so the configuration survives moving between pages. These entries identify the setup session, not you:
| Item | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
aig_builder_… | localStorage | The setup session token, so the owner stays signed in to the Cortex setup panel while moving between their own pages. | 7 days, or until the owner closes the setup panel |
aig_scan_… | sessionStorage | Which pages the setup scan has already visited, and which are still queued. | Until the tab is closed |
aig_scan_done_… | localStorage | A marker that the one-off setup scan has finished, so it does not start again by itself. | Until cleared in the browser |
The same assistant also runs on our own demo sites (demo1 and demo2.askmywebsiteai.com), where we — not a customer — are the controller. It behaves identically and keeps the same three sessionStorage entries above (discarded when you close the tab); the only difference is that trying it there requires you to be signed in (see aig_demo in section 2).
| Item | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
aig_session | localStorage | Keeps you signed in to your account on this device (strictly necessary). It holds a random session token; signing out invalidates the session on our servers. | Until you sign out; sessions also expire after 24 hours of inactivity (30 days at most) |
amwai_plan_intent | localStorage | Remembers which plan you chose on our pricing page, so that after you create your account and confirm your email we can take you straight to it. It holds only the plan name. | 30 days, or until you open Plan & billing |
amwai_theme | localStorage | Remembers whether you chose a light, dark, or system-matching appearance for the dashboard, so it looks the same next time on this device. It holds only that choice. | Until you change it or clear your browser storage |
aig_demo | Cookie (first-party, .askmywebsiteai.com) | Signs you in so you can try the live assistant on our own demo sites (demo1/demo2.askmywebsiteai.com). It holds a signed session token that identifies your account and nothing else; strictly necessary for the demo, never used for advertising or tracking. | 24 hours, or until you sign out of the dashboard — signing out ends it immediately |
Strictly necessary storage of this kind does not require consent under the ePrivacy rules and Spanish LSSI-CE.
Our landing pages use Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC) to measure aggregate traffic. GA4 sets cookies (_ga, _ga_*, typically retained up to 13 months) that assign a random identifier to your browser. These cookies are used only with your consent, which you can give or refuse via the banner on the landing page and withdraw at any time. Details on Google's processing: policies.google.com/privacy.
Separately, the product backend records aggregate, server-side usage statistics per customer account (not per visitor); no analytics script is ever injected into customers' websites.
If you arrive through a link containing a ?ref= discount code, we store that code so your discount still applies after you browse to another page and create an account.
| Item | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
amwai_ref | Cookie (first-party, .askmywebsiteai.com) | Remembers the discount code you arrived with, so it is applied automatically at sign-up | 30 days |
This cookie is set only when you follow a link that contains a discount code — never otherwise. It holds that code and nothing else: no identifier, no profile, and it is not used for advertising or shared with anyone.
You can clear cookies, localStorage and sessionStorage at any time in your browser settings, and closing a tab already discards everything the widget kept in it. Nothing here is load-bearing: clearing aig_session simply signs you out of the dashboard on that device; clearing amwai_ref only means a discount code will no longer be filled in for you automatically (you can still type the code by hand at sign-up); clearing amwai_plan_intent only means the plan you picked will not be pre-selected for you; clearing amwai_theme only resets the console to follow your system's light/dark setting; clearing the widget's entries only starts a fresh conversation thread.
