AI concierge vs site search

Site search returns a list of pages that might contain the answer, and the visitor still has to open them, skim them and work it out. An [AI concierge] returns the answer itself, drawn from those same pages, and then highlights the next element to click if the visitor's goal was an action rather than a fact. Search is a retrieval tool for people who want to browse the shelf; a concierge is for people who came with a question and would like it answered.

Where site search is genuinely better

If a large part of your traffic is browsing a catalogue or a reference manual, keep the search box. This is not an either-or.

The gap search leaves

Search answers "which pages mention these words". Visitors usually want something else: "does this apply to me, and what do I do next?" Those are not the same question, and the distance between them is work the visitor has to do.

Three failures are common and none of them are the fault of a badly built search:

There is also a plain behavioural point: on a great many sites the search box is barely used. People scroll, they scan the navigation, they leave. A box that says "ask a question" matches how people actually phrase what they want, because writing a full sentence requires no guess about which keywords the site indexed.

What the concierge does instead

AskMyWebsite AI scans the site when it is set up, and answers questions from that content plus notes the owner adds, and from nothing else. It does not answer from the open internet, so it cannot import a policy you never wrote. Where search matched words, the assistant works from meaning, which is why a question phrased in the visitor's vocabulary still lands on the right content.

Two things follow that search structurally cannot do:

It also replies in the language the visitor writes in, whatever language your site is published in - which is not something a keyword index does at all.

Both, with different jobs

The clean division: search for enumeration, the concierge for questions and for getting somewhere. A visitor who wants to see all your blue chairs should search. A visitor who wants to know whether the blue chair fits through a 70 cm doorway and how long delivery takes should ask. Keeping both means neither has to pretend to be the other.

A useful side effect: the questions people ask in plain language tell you what your pages fail to say clearly. Search logs tell you which keywords people guessed. Questions tell you what they actually needed, which is a better editing brief.

What it costs and how it installs

Pricing follows one rule: pay for answers, not tokens. One answer means one visitor question answered, and the guidance continuations that follow an answer are free, so walking someone through several steps is still one answer. At the cap the behaviour is deliberately quiet: visitors mid-conversation finish their thread, and for new visitors the widget simply does not appear - never an error on your site.

AskMyWebsite AI is in private beta and we are onboarding a few websites at a time. Tell us your website address and what you would want the concierge to do, through the [contact page], and we will come back to you with access and pricing.

Installation is one script tag before </body>, with no plugin and no changes to your site's code. It works on WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, Squarespace, Wix, Framer and custom HTML, and it detects client-side route changes so single-page applications behave correctly. On privacy: EU operator (Spain), EU hosting (Barcelona), a GDPR Article 28 DPA at [/dpa], no cookies set by the widget (sessionStorage only after the visitor opens it, and it dies with the tab), conversations auto-deleted after 90 days, payments only on Stripe hosted pages, and content not used to train AI models.

Try it next to your search box

Take the five queries your search log shows returning nothing, and ask them as questions instead. That comparison is the whole argument.
